Sparta - Second-grade students at Hilltop Country Day School discovered the world of dinosaurs and learned about paleontology recently when paleontologists Mike and Roberta Straka visited the school. The students have been studying about dinosaurs and fossils as part of their science curriculum. The “Dinosaur Expedition” enabled the students to see the skull of a real eight-foot Triceratops named “Mr. Nixon.” They also handled real dinosaur fossils and saw photographs of the Strakas working on past “digs” in North and South Dakota. The presentation allowed the students to view and handle objects they have been studying, a learning method that is widely used at the school.
