Stanhope - Valley Road School has named eighth grader Elizabeth Wronko as their Sussex County Superintendent Roundtable winner. Wronko, who is ranked second academically at the school, was described as “a highly motivated, accomplished young lady.” She was voted class president this year by her peers and hopes to continue in student government at Lenape Valley Regional High School, where she will attend this fall. Wronko has been on the high-honor and merit rolls during her years at Valley Road School and in the past year was nominated to go to Washington, D.C., to attend the People to People Leadership Forum. She was recommended by her language arts teacher, Mrs. Fehir, for her leadership skills and good grades. During the time she spent in Washington, D.C., she not only made friends from all over the U.S., she earned high school credits. She has also received an invitation from England’s Parliament to go to London and another invitation to return to Washington as an honored member of the leadership alumni. Wronko is a cheerleader for the Lenape Valley Indians, cheering at football games and participating in competitions. She recently won the coveted “Miss Yell” trophy, one of the highest awards a cheerleader can receive. She has helped coach the Lenape Valley Clinic squad, which consisted of girls in first and second grade. She is currently helping coach a sixth grade all-star team with 22 girls. She has also played basketball for the Stanhope Chargers, who placed second in the Netcong Tournament. This year, Wronko took part with other Valley Road students in the “Shootathon” and “Mathathon” for St. Jude Children’s Hospital to raise monies for children with special medical needs. As one of Valley Road’s peer helpers, she shares her knowledge of a subject with others. After high school and college, she hopes to become a lawyer.
