Driving rains didn’t stop nearly 3,000 locals from visiting Franklin Sussex Auto Mall on Saturday, Aug. 22 for their second annual Hazzard County Fair. John Schneider, who starred in the role of Bo Duke on the “Dukes of Hazzard” signed tee-shirts, model General Lee cars and posters throughout the day. A number of cars were on display. The crowd also enjoyed free hot dogs and sodas with WSUS on hand spinning tunes. At the end of the day, a Daisy Duke look-a-like contest took place as well as a giveaway for a scooter. Both contests were MC’ed by WSUS radio’s Maria Lake. Schneider was one of the judges of the Daisy Duke look-a-like contest. Schneider, who is from upstate New York said, “I love Sussex County. The people are fantastic and the hospitality is exceptional. Rain or shine, people are out to have a good time. There’s a sense of community here.” Bill Snouffer, General Manager of Franklin Sussex Auto Mall said, “We love Mr. Schneider here. He is a great guy.” Schneider said he is touched by how many fans still enjoy the show, especially young children. The grand prize winner of the Daisy Duke look-a-like contest was Chryss Rosario. She won a 50” plasma TV.
