Fairview Lake Y hosts summer camp open house April 30
Stillwater - Fairview Lake YMCA will hold an open house from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. on Sunday, April 30, for parents and children interested in learning more about their summer camp program. The Fairview Lake YMCA is located at 1035 Fairview Lake Rd., in Stillwater. Attendees are invited to tour the facilities and meet with camp staff, who will be on hand to answer questions. “Our summer camps have a rich history of providing children with stimulating activities that are both fun and safe,” said Ellie Daingerfield, acting executive director of the Fairview Lake YMCA. “In a recent survey conducted by the Metropolitan YMCA of the Oranges, 96 percent of respondents rated their experience at Fairview Lake as either good or excellent overall.” The Fairview Lake YMCA is home to over two dozen summer sleepaway camps for children in grades two through 11. This gives campers the option of choosing from a traditional summer camp experience or one of their specialty camps that focuses on one specific area of interest, such as sailing, windsurfing, horseback riding and others. The Fairview Lake YMCA also offers Environmental Trips for Challenge, a camping experience for those looking for a challenge rather than just pretty scenery. Campers are challenged to push themselves and learn new skills as they navigate through nature by way of bikes, canoes, repel ropes, long hikes and more. Challenge campers have the opportunity to experience a number of unique activities offered in nearly a dozen different camping programs for kids and teens in grades five through 11. The Fairview Lake YMCA is accredited by the American Camping Association and licensed by the state of New Jersey. “In addition to their wonderful staff, the Fairview Lake YMCA has a great camp director, Marc Koch,” said one camp parent recently. “He seems to know each child personally and looks after all camp details with great care.” Space is limited. Parents are encouraged to register now while spots are still available. For information, call 973 383-9282 or log on to fairviewlakeymca.org.
