Andover — Andover Township’s taxpayers will see no increase in their bills for municipal services with the 2007 budget. The budget’s final numbers were presented by the township auditor Monday, April 23, and the mayor and committee officially adopted it. The total budget is $7,283,000 with increased revenues of $211,000. The net expenditures saw an increase of $246,000 which consisted mainly of police salary and wages, health insurance premiums, and state mandated retirement contributions. However, these increases were offset by using $50,000 in surplus funds. “The municipal tax rate was able to remain constant as a result of the effort and hard work put forth by the Township Council and Administration,” said Tim Day, chief financial officer for the township. Andover Township recently hired Day as its full-time CFO; previously, this was a part-time position. Day’s experience comes from two other municipalities, the Township of Harding and the Borough of Caldwell. Day also has extensive public service background working for a local public utility.
