Fredon — Stephanie and Mark Hontz of Fredon taught first and second graders at the elementary school about many styles of American fold music. Stephanie is a Math teacher at Kittatinny Regional High School and Mark is a local attorney. The program highlighted the 19th and 20th century genres of folk music, including humorous songs, work songs, legends, gospel, Dixieland and patriotic songs as a lesson in the history of the people who wrote and performed them. The Hontzs played a variety of instruments such as a banjo, 6-string guitar, 12-string guitar, mandolin, bass and claves. The students livened up the library as they sang and clapped along with the performers.
