Fourth annualWomen's Weekend' at SCCC April 1
Newton - The annual Women’s Weekend at Sussex County Community College will begin at 8 a.m. on Saturday, April 1, and conclude with the start of the Black Maria Film Festival at 7:30 p.m. that night. The event, open to people ages 18 and older, will include breakfast, lunch and dinner along with workshops and area vendors. Attendees will have an opportunity to explore new ways to live a better life, or learn something they’ve always been curious about, and will have time to relax and enjoy the day. “This is our fourth Women’s Weekend and every year it gets a little bit better,” said Linda Nieman, executive director of advancement and planning, and chair of the event “This year we’ve brought back some old favorites and added some interesting new workshops. One of the most exciting aspects is the closing activity, which will feature free admission into the Black Maria Film Festival for all Women’s Weekend attendees.” Presentations scheduled for the day include topics such as skin care, belly dancing, yoga, personal enrichment, great women in literature, the DaVinci Code, feng shui, financial planning, women of Gettysburg, skin care, weight loss, stress management, past-life regression, faux painting, and other areas of interest. To view the complete schedule and to access the registration form, log on to sussex.edu. In addition, all attendees will receive a free tote bag filled with goodies and discounts to stores located in Lafayette Village. The day will end with the start of the Black Maria Film Festival, featuring some of the nation’s most free spirited, fresh, and visionary independent films. Registration fee for Women’s Weekend is $85; groups of 10 or more each receive $10 off their fee. The cost includes all activities, continental breakfast, lunch and dinner. Lunch this year is sponsored by Schering-Plough. Pre-registration is encouraged; a limited number of day-of-event registrations are available. For information, call 973-300-2121.
