Highlands State Bank Employees give up their Christmas party to give back to community ANDOVER — The employees of Highlands State Bank decided to forego their annual Christmas Party and instead donate funds for the party to local families in the area who suffered major loss due to the recent hurricanes and floods. The Sparta branch donated $2,000 to the Leenstra family who lost their home due to flooding. The Vernon branch donated $2,000 to the Brinster family who lost their home to a fire in October and the Totowa branch donated $2,000 to the Totowa Fire Department who donated much of their time helping families in need due to the storms. Highlands State Bank is an FDIC insured independent community Bank headquartered in Vernon with branches in Sparta and Totowa.
