    November 17 At 3:10 p.m., Ptl. Ed O’Rourke of the Hardyston Township Police Department stopped a green GMC pickup truck for speeding in Scenic Lakes. The driver, John Calomiris of Vernon was found to be intoxicated and was arrested at the scene after failing field sobriety tests. He was charged with driving while intoxicated, driving with a suspended driver’s license, and speeding. Assisting in the arrest was Ptl. E. Aronson of the Hamburg Police Department. Calomaris was released pending a municipal court appearance. At 2:27 p.m., Ptl. Fox of the Hardyston Township Police Department responded to a call for an erratic driver headed north on Route 94. The suspect vehicle was observed carelessly making a left turn nearly avoiding a head on collision with oncoming traffic. Further investigation revealed that the driver of the vehicle, Paul B. Lech, of Hamburg, was operating under the influence of alcohol. After failing a roadside sobriety test, Lech was arrested and charged with DWI, careless driving, failure to produce registration, and uninsured motor vehicle. Lech was released pending a future municipal court appearance.
