STANHOPE-High schools throughout the county hosted "Proms" last week to honor the communities' senior citizens. At Lenape Valley Regional High School last Friday, Interact, a club with more than 140 members under the mentorship of Deborah Hay, welcomed senior citizens from Byram, Stanhope, and Netcong. The students were clad in tuxedos and gowns serving as greeters, photographers, and wait staff for the evening. The seniors citizens were treated to dinner catered by Uncle Sal's, entertained by student dancers from the Arthur Murray Studio, and danced to music courtesy of a combo of the school's best musicians. Stephen Stout on the drums, Greg Beckley, alto sax, John Hebble, bass, and musical program director, Chuck Linnell captivated the group with classic and current hits. The Prom Queen and King were Irene Kiesel and William VonMinden. The theme of the seventh annual "Senior Prom" was "The Red Carpet," with guests appearances by Humphrey Bogart and Marilyn Monroe likenesses.
