Sparta - Recently, Lower School parents were invited to a Technology Open House at Hilltop Country Day School in Sparta. The technological movement is the result of the work of technology coordinator Regina Cherill, the Lower School faculty and division head Laura McGee. At the beginning of the school year, all Lower School classrooms were updated and equipped with computers, multi-use printers, and four mimio/multi-media projectors and interactive whiteboards. The equipment allows students to experience the computer as a tool on a daily basis. In addition, Cherill has supported the teachers with hands-on workshops, study guides and publications to enhance their skills and keep them abreast of the technology. One of the goals of the investment at Hilltop is to promote the effective use of technology to improve learning, communication and productivity. Students can explore, experience and understand computer technology each day. Teachers involve the students in daily experiences through graphics, story-writing, multimedia presentations and software applications that allow opportunities for critical thinking and decision making. This semester, the focus has been on the integration of mathematics using technology.
