Inspired to run

On Sept. 10, a group of runners and supporters from Vernon and beyond participated in the Livestrong Challenge just outside Philadelphia. They were inspired to participate by Steve Carlson, a Vernon teacher and high school coach who is a cancer survivor. Carlson is a supporter of the Lance Armstrong Foundation, whose goal is to inspire and empower people affected by cancer through education, support and research. Armstrong, the seven-time Tour de France winner, is a cancer survivor.
