Instructor shines in World Artistic Pool Championship

    NEWTON-A Sussex County Community College faculty member won a trophy for top jump shot at the World Artistic Pool Championship in Los Angeles. William Meima, a Green Township resident and corporate and community education instructor, scored 38 out of a possible 40 points against world-renown pool players including Mike Massey, Charles Darling, Stefano Pelinga, and Tom Rossman. Meima said artistic pool or "trick shots" is becoming a popular addition to pool and billiards. He has been playing pool and doing trick shots since the age of 12. Meima will begin teaching a class on artistic pool through Sussex County Community College, Corporate & Community Education, 6:30-8:30 p.m., Wednesdays, beginning Feb. 23, at the Green Room Billiard Parlor on Route 15 in Sparta.
