K.E.E.P. gets $500 grant from First Book
SPARTA - K.E.E.P., Inc., has been awarded a Borders gift card grant worth $500 from First Book-Sussex County. The grant was made possible because of the “amazing success of the joint campaign between Borders Group and First Book,” explained Penny Schneider, executive director of K.E.E.P. “It is K.E.E.P.’s philosophy that reading to young children is the most important thing that you can do to help them get ready for the formal school years,” said Schneider. “For this reason, this grant is so important to the families enrolled in our programs.” She said the grant will enable the organization to purchase books for low-income Sussex County families who otherwise might “never discover the joy of owning their first new book. The books purchased with these funds will enrich the lives of the children and families we serve, further exposing them to a wonderful reading experience,” she added. K.E.E.P. is a non-profit organization providing before- and after-school care in 13 Sussex County schools. For information, call 973-729-6474 or log on to keepkids.org.
