Keeping the reservation alive with trees

Stanhope Cub Scouts held Beaver Day, April 21, at Mt. Allamuchy Scout Reservation in Stanhope Borough and Byram and Allamuchy townships. Approximately 75 Cub Scouts and their families participated that day and planted 800 Norway Spruce trees in the camp. Members of the Patriots Path Conservation Committee, Linda Westenberger and Tom Hartman, organized the tree planting, instructed the boys how to plant, and started each off with 10 trees and a bucket to water them. Most of the families planted more than 10 trees. This project is part of the conservation committee’s forestry management plan. The Stanhope Scouts also do clean up in the state reservation.
