Kids and drug abuse; Project Alert in Ogdensburg

| 29 Sep 2011 | 10:10

Ogdensburg - Aunt Hazel, Bazooka, Coffee Cups, Chicken Scratch - no, these are not titles of the latest movie releases; they are all terms used in the drug world to make using drugs more appealing to our children. Find out about what your kids already know about drugs at a Project Alert meeting from 7-9 p.m. on Wednesday, Nov. 29, at the Ogdensburg Public School Library. Presented by the Center for Prevention and Counseling and jointly sponsored with the Ogdensburg Drug Alliance, Ogdensburg Board of Education, Ogdensburg Police Department, Ogdensburg First Aid Squad and the Mayor and Town Council of Ogdensburg, Project Alert is designed to inform adults about how to keep their children safe from drugs during their most at-risk years - middle school. Parents and guardians of children in grades six through eight, plus teachers, support staff, coaches, etc., are encouraged to attend this free seminar and come away with tools that will assist adults in helping to keep our communities and our kids drug free. All attendees will receive a free information packet, which includes a copy of “Navigating the Teen Years.” This Project Alert meeting is free and open to all adults. For more information about attending, or to host a Project Alert in your area, please contact the Center for Prevention and Counseling at 973-383-4787 or info@centerforprevention.org.
