Newton - Kittatinny high-school students studying creative writing with English teacher Jen Gialanella, took their annual trip to Sandyston-Walpack last month to share children’s stories with students in the elementary school. The Kittatinny students had spent a few weeks studying children’s literature prior to creating their own original children’s books to read to the youngsters. “My high-school students did a great job creating their original books, and the Sandyston-Walpack students seemed to truly enjoy the unique experience of working with the students in the higher grades,” said Gialanella. The elementary school is part of the Kittatinny district, thus Gialanella may be facing the same students in her classroom some day. This month, the elementary-school students will write their own version of a children’s book. When they are finished, the budding artists-writers will travel to Kittatinny to share their stories with the high-school students.
