Oak Ridge — Lakeland Bank recently presented Sussex County Community College with a check for $15,000 to sponsor the Pavilion on the Green located on the campus grounds. The 2011/2012 sponsorship supports the Annual Foundation Ball, Thursdays on the Green and cultural programming at the Performing Arts Center. “SCCC has become an integral part of the county, serving as the hub for education, the arts, and community events for all people residing in and around Sussex County,” said Thomas J. Shara, president and chief executive officer of Lakeland Bank. “We believe access to an affordable, quality education is a valuable resource for residents as well as for the growth and prosperity of the local business community.” The Pavilion on the Green serves as the backdrop for their annual graduation ceremony as well as many other campus and community events held during the year. From Thursdays on the Green to the Skylander 5 and 10K Challenge to the 9/11 Memorial services, the SCCC campus has become the central gathering place for the community. In addition to these events, the Performing Arts Center provides SCCC with an avenue to offer a series of cultural programs. “Lakeland Bank’s sponsorship of the Pavilion provides the opportunity for SCCC to offer many exciting programs and events throughout the year,” said Barbara Wortman, executive director of the Foundation and Performing Arts Center.
