Stanhope - The German Folk Club of Lenape Valley Regional High School celebrated their accomplishments of this year’s German study and honored fellow students and teachers of the German language in the school auditorium on May 22. The evening was opened with a warm welcome from Thomas Claeys, who stressed (in both German and English) that German continues to be a language worthy of study. Students then received awards from German teachers, “Frau” Davis and “Frau” Newcomer, who honored students for improved skills, pronunciation, enthusiasm and more. Several monetary scholarships were also awarded, from organizations including the Steuben Society of America (presented by Hans Arndt, Peter Muehlenberg Unit), the German Heritage Council of N.J. (presented to Elise Rowe) and Germania Park Gesang Verein (presented to Molly Walsh).
