Lenape Valley students welcome Spanish counterparts to their classrooms and homes

    Sussex County n With warm "holas" and kisses, 18 students from Madrid were welcomed by their very new friends from Lenape Valley Regional High School at Newark Airport before being whisked off to Giant stadium to witness the state championship game between Lenape Valley and Lakeland. The young women and men, ranging in age from 16-18, will be staying with area families for the next two weeks. During that time, they will tour Philadelphia, New York, the Statue of Liberty, various museums and several area attractions, along with some time attending classes at the high school. The students have been developing their friendships for several months via e-mail. The exchange was organized by Spanish teacher, Sharon Mullen, as part of the International Friendship Circle, a direct school-to-school exchange. The Spanish students are from San Viator High School.
