Local educator speaks at national conference
Newton Petra Hannig-Eisengerger, German Teacher at Newton High School, was a guest speaker at the annual American Council of the Teaching of Foreign Languages conference held in Nashville, Tennessee. The conference, which was attended by 6,000 foreign language teachers from around the world, aims to educated teachers on all levels from elementary thru college. Pre- and post-convention workshops are held along with cultural sessions, vendors and presentations. Hanning-Eisenberger spoke on promoting your high school program with TPRS (Teaching Proficiency through Reading and Story Telling). She also shared her successful teaching methods and provided examples on how to promote, motivate and encourage young adults to embrace foreign language studies.
