The Franklin Revolver & Rifle Association has won the prestigious Outstanding Club Award from the National Rifle Association (NRA).
The award is presented to an NRA-affiliated club with a highly distinguished record of service and organization. It must demonstrate noteworthy achievement in club operation and public service and epitomize the ideals to which all NRA-affiliated clubs strive.
The NRA also provided Franklin R&R’s NRA recruiter, Helen Swingle, with an all-expenses-paid trip to attend the 154th NRA Annual Meeting of Members in Atlanta in April. She accepted the award there.
Franklin R&R has been operating for more than a century. It is dedicated to promoting a positive image of guns and gun owners.
It is known for educating children and adults in the safe use and handling of firearms. Club members volunteer to coach participants and the NRA Foundation supplies the ammunition and equipment.
Franklin R&R holds “Shoot for a Cause” matches to raise money for worthy causes, such as Karen Ann Quinlan Hospice, the 9-11 National Memorial and its Junior Rifle Program.
Non-member shooters are invited to attend the weekly Sunday Pistol and Rifle Leagues as well as monthly events, such as Precision Matches and the more challenging Combat Pistol Match.
