Annual Garden and Historic Home Tour June 16
NEWTON The 14th Annual Town and Country Garden and Historic Home Tour will be held on Saturday, June 16, with a rain date of June 17. The tour starts from the council's office, 133 Spring St. in Newton, where participants receive a guidebook with a map. Newton, Fredon, Green and Stillwater will be the tour areas this year. All homes and gardens will available for touring from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., giving participants ample time to meander at their own pace while enjoying the day, learning a little, and seeing some of the beauty man can help nature to create. Restaurants along the way will be offering lunch and a respite; some will be offering discounts to tour participants. Besides insightful material on the homes and gardens that will be visited, the tours guidebook includes the locations for the discounts, gardening tips and other useful information. On the day of the tour the council's office will open at 9 a.m. Guide books will then be available for pick-up and patrons who have not yet registered may do so. Summer hours are Tuesday and Friday, 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., Wednesday, 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., Thursday, 9 a.m. to 8 p.m., and Saturday, from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m.
