Benefit concert April 22 at the Stanhope House
Proceeds to benefit young cancer patient, son of Stanhope police officer STANHOPE Some of the area's finest bands are set to play the Concert for Joey on April 22 at the Stanhope House to benefit cancer patient Joey Johnson. Joey, a child who last year was diagnosed with a rare form of brain cancer, is in need of increasingly costly medical procedures after his initial surgery only proved to be partially successful. Already scheduled to perform in support of Joey's cause are Street Hassle, Stan, Hoi Polloi, Camouflage and B.G.B. The Concert for Joey is set to take place on April 22, at noon, at the Stanhope House, 45 Main St. in Stanhope. Advance tickets are available for $25. Additional bands are set to be added to the lineup of performers and will be announced upon confirmation. Proceeds from the concert will go directly to the Johnson family to help them with Joey's medical expenses. Joey's father, Joseph Johnson, is a decorated Marine Corps combat veteran of the Iraq War who currently serves as a patrolman in the Stanhope Police Department. "We hope that everyone will come out and support this very important fundraiser," said Jon Klein, owner of The Stanhope House. "It's tough enough for any family to have to go through the emotions of something like this. If we can help offset some of the medical bills perhaps we can take some of the financial burden off the family." The Stanhope House has been a musical institution in northwest New Jersey for decades, with national and regional acts gracing its stages weekly.
