BYRAM — On February 12, students at Byram Lakes jumped all over heart disease and stroke by participating in Jump Rope For Heart. The students raised more than $22,000 for the American Heart Association, which funds research, programs, and education to fight heart disease and stroke, our nation’s No. 1 and No. 5 killers.
“I’m ecstatic with the success of this year’s event,” said Mike Kulesa, physical education teacher and Jump Rope For Heart coordinator at the Byram Lakes School. “We all had a lot of fun, and the kids enjoyed learning about the importance of physical activity and how they can play a role in saving lives.”
This is the sixth year that the Lakes School has participated in the Jump Rope for Heart Program, and each year the program has grown. In total, the Lakes School has raised more than $66,000 for the American Heart Association.
Jump Rope For Heart is a program that promotes physical activity and heart health through jumping rope. It is co-sponsored by the American Heart Association and SHAPE America Society of Health and Physical Educators.
