Family Promise holds annual gala

— Family Promise of Sussex County is hosting its annual gala at Lake Mohawk Country Club on April 21st from 6:30-10:30. The event is sponsored by THORLABS, Andover Animal Hospital, Rubenstein Properties, and Atlantic Health System Newton Medical Center. It will feature a fairytale theme dedicated to “making dreams come true” and helping families find their “happily ever after.” The gala is the non-profit’s largest fundraising event which raises money to support stabilization of families in the community who are experiencing a housing crisis. The agency does so through a series of programs such as emergency shelter, homelessness prevention, rapid rehousing, intensive case management, and a men’s day program. Funds raised during this “enchanted evening” provide support to continue these programs and meet the most pressing needs of clients.
After the success of last year’s gala, Family Promise Housing Specialist Patricia David is looking forward to this year's event.
“My husband and I had a great time bidding on and winning a variety of silent auction items, from a psychic reading to a Brewer for a Day to crafting a custom beer at a nearby brewery, Hop Hill," she said. "This year we are looking forward to seeing what great new items we can win!”
Each year an individual or organization is chosen to be recognized at the event. For the 2018 gala, Family Promise of Sussex County will honor Sussex County Technical School with the Community Impact Award. The chefs and students of the Culinary Arts Kitchen and the Culinary Arts Commercial Baking Kitchen programs will be recognized for their extensive community involvement. This past December they provided great service by sharing their talents with clients from Family Promise of Sussex County at the annual Christmas Party. A group of students prepared the food, transported it to the event, and then served the meal to the 85 clients in attendance. The two instructors are local Sussex County raised residents who have a love of the county at heart. Chef Gasiorek has been an instructor for Sussex Tech for 12 years and is himself a graduate of the bake shop program at Sussex Tech. Chef Trimper has filled the role of instructor for the past 4 years and is a local graduate of Kittatinny Regional High School.
Family Promise of Sussex County welcomes you to join them at the gala. Tickets are available for purchase by calling the agency at (973)-579-1180 and are $75.00 per person. The evening will include food, a silent and a live auction, and music for a wonderful experience. If you would like to donate an item towards the event you can do so by calling Family Promise of Sussex County during business hours.
