FREDON - A Rockin' Radical Night of Mystery will be held at Brook Hollow Winery on Saturday, March 30, to benefit The Fredon Education Foundation.
The premise? It's the 1980s and there's a mystery to be solved.
“Poison Ratenstein is in town for a killer concert, but his fans may be looking for a refund after this twisted tour turns tragic with a murder and a mystery to solve,” said Christina Conklin, the co-president of the Fredon Eduction Foundation and the event's chair. “This radical show could be super lame if no one can solve who was buggin.’ So we can all cool out and get the show started. Help the crowd and the detective figure out who ruined this totally tubular night, so everyone can, like, take a chill pill.”
Show-goers are asked to grab their “most righteous '80s concert gear to “rock out in style.” Suggestions include jean jackets, spandex leggings, big hair, bangles, and ripped jeans.
Conklin said the Fredon Education Foundation decided to repeat last year's event but with an 80s flare.
“So many people said how much fun they had and what a great night and so on,” Conklin said.
Last year the weather thwarted some from attending.
“More people wished they had come after they had heard the feedback,” Conklin said, “Unfortunately, we did not sell out due to the storms. People were focused on storm clean up and getting back into their homes after the power outages.”
This year's will be less formal than last year's Midnight Masquerade.
“The Fredon Educational Foundation's goal is to provide a fun event to our families and local community that aides in raising money for educational opportunities for the children of Fredon School,” Conklin said.
Since the Foundation has established relationships with Brook Hollow Winery and the Murder Myster Co from New York City, they are again using both vendors. The planning committee has been reaching out to local businesses, friends and family for contributions, and there will also be a 50/50 at the event. The evening will feature prizes for best dressed couple, best dressed male and female.
Tickets can be purchased through the Fredon School web site under the Fredon Educational Foundation tab. The tickets cost $45 per person and include dinner and the Murder Mystery show. There will be a cash bar with wine and beer. There's also a link on the Fredon Education Foundation Facebook page at https://www.facebook.com/FedonEducationalFoundation/.
In addition to Conklin, the entire Fredon Educational Foundation Board, Trustees and Committee are involved. The Fredon Educational Foundation Board consists of: Renee Pizzutto (co-president), Heidi Truesdel (recording secretary), Deb Itnyre (trustee), Krystal Beck (trustee), Jennifer Frame (treasurer), and Isabel Ickenrode (corresponding secretary.)
Proceeds from the night will go to support educational opportunities for the students of Fredon School.
Some of the proceeds will go to support summer programs that enrich the students education during the summer months and the remainder will go to the Foundation until a grant application is submitted that supports the curriculum of the school district.
Brook Hollow Winery is located at 594 State Highway 94 in Columbia, New Jersey.
