Free TIPS training for Sussex and Morris County servers

    HOPATCONG — Center for Prevention and Counseling will be offering a Free TIPS Responsible Beverage Server program training on May 8 at Pavinci’s Italian Grill in Hopatcong from noon to 4 p.m. to teach Morris and Sussex County servers how to prevent drunk driving, underage drinking and alcohol abuse. Session participants will become certified in the TIPS (Training for Intervention Procedures) program, will receive a TIPS certification card valid for three years, one 2012 ID Checking Guide and one TIPS Alcohol Incident Report Log Book (total value of $100). Light lunch will be served. TIPS trainings enhance the people skills of the servers, sellers and consumers of alcohol. Program participants are trained by certified instructors to detect the signs of intoxication and gain the confidence needed to intervene effectively to prevent alcohol-related problems.
