Hopatcong Woman’s Club celebrates three new members and hosts Spring Fashion Show
Hopatcong - The Hopatcong Woman's Club proudly welcomed three new members to the club in March, inducting them with a short ceremony during the general membership meeting on Thursday, March 21. Cathy Ludwig, Pat Hoferkamp, and Lisa Dell’Arena, all of Hopatcong, are already getting involved and volunteering for various projects already underway.
Longtime members Merlene Colabella, Pat Hofmann, and Betty DeKleine, were recently honored with the Order of the Lily Award by the state organization, for their hard work and dedication over the years.
Tickets for the Annual Spring Fashion Show at Perona Farms on Thursday, April 28 are now available for $50. All are welcome to attend, and need not be a Woman’s Club member to attend. This is a great social event for women, with many door prizes and silent auction baskets, as well as a fashion show presented by Melania’s Fashions. All proceeds go toward the many community and charitable organizations that the club supports, as well as well as toward scholarship funds for area students and those re-entering the work force. Call Mary Jeanne at 973-398-4752 or Lisa at 973-479-9228 for tickets.
April is Prevent Child Abuse month, and the Hopatcong Woman’s Club is again supporting this worthy cause by planting a pinwheel garden in Modick Park. It will serve as a reminder to all who enjoy the shiny moving objects for the entire month that child abuse is a serious matter.
Lastly, the club's community food drive serves local pantries, providing for those in need throughout the year by way of the West Side Methodist Church. Current collection sites (for non-perishable items, no glass) include: The Hopatcong Post Office, Borough Hall, and The Medicine Shoppe. As of March, the club has has collected 1,256 lbs. of food, and the club extends special thanks to Norma and Bob Rung, for their coordination and collecting of these items on the club's behalf.
The final Hopatcong Woman’s Club general meeting will be held on Wednesday, April 17, at a new location: The Hopatcong Resource and Wellness Center, located in the Hopatchung Plaza Shopping Center at 47 Hopatchung Road (near Rite Aid). General meetings are held at 10:30 a.m. on the third Wednesday of each month from October through April, while September and May luncheons are at local restaurants. Contact any club member for more information or to come as a guest.
