Irish dance school brings home top prizes

BYRAM — Dancers from An Clar School of Irish Dance, headed to Philadelphia to compete at their regional championships, the Oireachtas. There they joined nearly 2,500 other young ladies and gentleman all from the Mid-Atlantic Region. Solo, traditional set, and ceili team dances were judged by panels of adjudicators from around the globe. Though glittery costumes shone on stage, the fabulous dancing took all the attention.
Twenty-five an Clar dancers that represented the school proudly returned home with much to brag about: seven solo medals, three traditional set first places, eight traditional set placements, two ceili team placements, seven national qualifiers, and a world qualifier.
Their teacher, Lexa Hickey TCRG, was proud to watch each and every one of her dancers as they stepped onto the stages and demonstrated the respects of all the hard work that had gone into preparing for Oireachtas.
