At 7:25 a.m. on Saturday, Feb. 2, 2019, Groundhog Day will be celebrated as usual at Gobbler's Knob in Punxsutawney, Pennsylvania. That's when Punxsutawney Phil, a groundhog, is expected to leave his burrow and look for his shadow for the 133rd time,to predict the weather, according to the Punxsutawney Groundhog Club.
The Punxsutawney Groundhog Day events actually last a week and are planned by the "inner circle." They're a top-hat wearing group of men who have carried on a 132-year tradition of feigning that a groundhog can predict the weather by whispering that prediction into the ear of an inner circle member.
The Feb. 2 event starts at 3 a.m. and continues all day. To watch it live online visit the website for Pennyslvania tourism: http://visitpa.com/groundhog-day-live-stream/
