Leesa Beckman and Terry Neff discuss nature and wildlife photography at 7: 30 p.m. on Wednesday, Feb. 13, 2019, at the Sparta Ambulance Building, at 14 Sparta Ave, Sparta NJ. The presentation includes photographs taken outdoors, and that display elements of; landscape, wildlife, plants, and close-ups of natural scenes and textures. The presentation addresses; settings, what gear to pack, storytelling through images, zoo photography, and editing tips.
Leesa Beckmann is one of Sussex County's notable photographers. She graduated from Parsons School of Design with a BFA degree in Communication Design. She is a known author and illustrator of four children's books about the adventures of her indoor pet goose, Oliver. She has always had an interest in photography and nature. She is inspired by the members of the Sparta and the Vernon Camera Clubs. In 2018, Leesa won Best in Show in the SCAHC 3rd Annual XPOSE, the 2018 Lusscroft Farms Benefit, the Ringwood and the Salmagundi Gallery photo competitions. and she won the People's Choice Awards in Sparta Camera Club Expo and Sussex County Farm & Horse Show State Fair Photography Competitions. Her photograph, "On the Prowl in NYC", is on exhibit in the new entrance to the observatory of the Empire State Building!
Terry Neff has been taking pictures since she was 10 years old, but her passion for photography truly ignited when she joined the Vernon Camera Club and the Sparta Camera Clubs 5 years ago. At one time she had her own home studio and color lab, where she printed enlargements for herself and for a local lab. However, today she does most of her photo editing in Lightroom and Photoshop. which serve as her darkroom. Terry enjoys landscape and still life photography. She has won many awards locally for her photos including Best in Show at the New Jersey Sussex County Farm & Horse Show and Lusscroft Farms Benefits competitions, First Place for Still Life at the Sussex County Arts and Heritage Council Third Annual XPOSE and has won several awards at the Sparta Camera Club Expo competitions. and more. She has created her own and has resurrected her home studio for her still life photography. to create still life photos. Terry is currently President of the Vernon Camera Club.
