Jump for heart health
Byram — On February 17, students at Byram Lakes jumped all over heart disease and stroke by participating in Jump Rope For Heart. The students raised $24,651 for the American Heart Association, which funds research, programs and education to fight heart disease and stroke, our nation’s No. 1 and No. 5 killers.
“I’m amazed with the success of this year’s event,” said Mike Kulesa, Physical Education teacher and Jump Rope For Heart coordinator at the Byram Lakes School. “We all had a lot of fun, and the kids enjoyed learning about the importance of physical activity and how they can play a role in saving lives.”
This is the 7th year the Lakes School has participated in the Jump Rope for Heart Program and each year the program has grown. In total the Lakes School has raised over $90,000 for the American Heart Association.
Jump Rope For Heart is a program that promotes physical activity and heart health through jumping rope. It is co-sponsored by the American Heart Association and SHAPE America-Society of Health and Physical Educators.
