Kindergarten registration at two area schools

    Stanhope Public School Kindergarten registration packets are now available for pick up in the main office at 24 Valley Road in Stanhope between 8:30 a.m. and 3:30 p.m. Registration will take place March 12 and March 26, from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m., at the Valley Road Media Center, 24 Valley Road in Stanhope. Applications can also be downloaded from the school's website, www.stanhopeschools.org. Registrants are asked to have the following items with them or meet the following requirements at the time of registration. Child must be 5 years old on or before Oct. 1 Birth certificate, health and immunization records Proof of residency (mortgage/lease) Required immunizations. For a full list of the required immunizations refer to the registration packet. Physical exam forms will be included in the registration packet. In the event of inclement weather, registration will continue the next day school is in session. Merriam Avenue School For Newton residents who plan to enter their children into the Merriam Avenue School in September 2012, registration will be held at the school on March 21, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. It is not necessary to bring the children being registered to the registration. The school asks that the following requirements be met and the following items be on hand at the time of registration. More information can be found on the district's website, www.newtonnj.org. Proof of residency Birth certificate. A child must be five years or older on or before Oct. 1, 2012. Immunization requirements. For a full list of the required immunizations refer to the registration packet. Physical examination by the family physician, on school form, done after Jan. 1 2012, and by the first day of school. It is not necessary to have all immunization requirements completed in order to register a student, but a doctor's certificate of completion (including boosters) must be presented to the school nurse before a student can enter the school in September. A meeting for parents will be held on Wednesday, March 21, at 7 p.m., in the library at the Merriam Avenue School. Principal Karen Perez will be reviewing the kindergarten curriculum and answering any questions that parents may have. The Merriam Avenue School is located at 81 Merriam Avenue in Newton.
