NEWTON — On April 17 students at Kittatinny Regional High School (KRHS) donated 4,560 pounds of food and water to Sussex County’s food pantry as part of the Champions for Charities Stuff the Bus campaign. This was almost double the school’s goal of 2,400 pounds. Two KRHS service organizations, the junior high student council and the National Honor Society (NHS), spearheaded the event. The food was collected from March 19 to March 30. Competitions were held among social studies classes in the junior high and class homerooms in the high school. The faculty and staff were challenged to raise 800 pounds and they exceeded their goal as well. “This entire event was a complete school effort, from bringing in cans of food and bottles of water, to collecting and packaging the supplies, to loading the boxes of groceries on the bus," said Kittatinny senior Corey Dannhardt, president of the school’s National Honor Society. "Everyone pitched in." Dannhardt thanked NHS members and the junior high student council members for their efforts in coordinating the event.
