Newton – Kittatinny Regional High School (KRHS) congratulates Patricia Egan Kittatinny’s Teacher of the Year. She has been a Special Education teacher for 33 years. This year she celebrates her 13th year at KRHS.
For as long as she can remember, Egan wanted to become a teacher. Her mother was a paraprofessional who occasionally brought her daughter to work with her. It was during this time Egan developed a passion for the field of special education. She earned her teaching degree at Clarion University in Pennsylvania.
Being a life-long learner, she brings the joy of learning into her classroom. She celebrates her students’ successes with them and encourages them to do their best every day. She truly enjoys her class.
The students “make me laugh, but also give me purpose," she said.
Her reaction to the award? “There are many deserving teachers in this building who could also have this title," she said. " It is a shame that there is only one per year. While I am honored to have been recognized with this award, I know I am in good company with so many fine teachers.”
