One of goals for 2012-13 school year at Lenape Valley Regional High School is to successfully implement and utilize Genesis, an information management system.
This electronic infrastructure is a big step forward for the high school to record and manage student records efficiently and effectively.
Teachers and administrators, along with students and parents, will be able to view pertinent information such as course selections, assignments, and grades through an online portal.
The Board of Education expects Genesis to provide greater accuracy in other areas also, such as student attendance.
Principal Ed Braun thinks the most important factor is that Genesis will enable the school to extract accurate data when needed. He said there are various softwares on the market, but Genesis will make it easier for Lenape to provide the many reports required by the State. Braun believes Lenape’s former system – STI – made this task a challenge.
Parents will receive a preview of Genesis at the open house on Thursday, Sept. 20.
Assistant Superintendent for Business Bob Klinck said the cost to purchase Genesis was approximately $13,500. He believes it was a good investment and will create a smoother transition of students from Byram since the township is also utilizing Genesis.
Other district goals approved by the Board of Education for this year includes a continuation in the increase in communication to students and parents about the mandated Harassment, Intimidation, and Bullying Legislation that went into effect last September.
The Superintendent’s office expects to implement a variety of staff development programs, along with an improved reporting procedure.
The first Lenape Valley Board of Education meeting for the 2012/13 school year is scheduled for Tuesday, Sept. 18 at 7:30 p.m. in the lower media center.
