Newton-Hackettstown Pool transportation
Monday through Friday from July 1 until Aug. 29 (no service on July 4) transportation to Hackettstown Pool is available to residents of the Town of Newton, Andover Borough, Andover Township, and Green Township. The bus leaves from Memory Park at 11:30 a.m. and arrives at 12:15 p.m. at the Hackettstown Community Pool. The bus is supplied by the Newton School District and can accommodate up to 50 guests.
The Town of Newton will pay for the bus and driver and provide any appropriate certificates of insurance/hold harmless agreements, as required. Pool entrance fees, concession stand and food and beverage options and activities are the responsibility of each participant. The bus leaves Hackettstown Community Pool at 5 p.m. and returns to Memory Park in Newton at approximately 5:45 p.m. The Town of Newton is hiring the previous Newton Pool Manager, Jacquie Ferdenzi, to accomodate participants each day. All Hackettstown Community Pool rules and regulations govern operations and behavior at the pool. Participants must be 16 years of age or accompanied by an adult/legal guardian. Participants wishing or needing to depart early must make their own travel arrangements and advise Ferdenzi.
The Town of Newton thanks Dr. Greene and the Newton Board of Education for assisting them with the utilization of a Newton school bus and the services of a trained staff bus driver for this community collaboration, and also thanks Hackettstown Recreation Director Joe Yapaola for his support. The interim summer pool program is made possible by the generosity of ThorLabs, by a new donation of $12,000 to the Town of Newton Recreation Trust Account, and thanks are extended to Alex Cable for continued support of the Town of Newton.
Newton also thanks all of the residents for their patience during this time.
