NEWTON — Newton Medical Center is ranked the top hospital in the state among hospitals with 350 beds or fewer by Castle Connolly Medical Ltd., one of the nation’s most respected health care research and information companies. Newton Medical Center is also ranked first in this category for the treatment of pediatric, prostate and breast cancers, and is among the top five hospitals of this size in cardiovascular and neurological care categories and hip and knee repair. Atlantic Health System’s hospitals, which include Morristown, Overlook, and Newton Medical Centers, as well as Goryeb Children’s Hospital, placed in the top three in nearly every category ranked by Castle Connolly. These rankings will be published in Inside Jersey magazine’s April 2012 issue. “Castle Connolly’s recognition of Newton Medical Center as the top hospital among all of the small to medium-size hospitals in New Jersey, and our broad range of services...demonstrates our commitment to providing superior patient care,” said President of Newton Medical Center, and Vice-President of Atlantic Health System, Tom Senker. “We take pride not only in providing our patients with the highest quality medical care, but also in offering the latest diagnostic and treatment tools within a warm, compassionate atmosphere for each patient and their family.” Nearly 1,200 licensed physicians in New Jersey participated in the online survey by Castle Connolly, which was distributed in the fall of 2011. Physicians cast more than 20,000 votes on the treatment of specific medical conditions and top overall hospitals in the state. The results were divided into two categories: hospitals with more than 350 beds and those with less than 350 beds.
