— Newton resident Glenn Zervas is starting a new business venture. The long-time musician will now be marketing soundtrack music to film producers, video editors, art directors, individuals who want to feature their own videos and more.
“Now, as well as performances, I am pursuing a career in the writing of music for cinema,” he said. “I also operate a digital recording studio and instructs both guitar and bass guitar.”
“My passion is to help set the mood for their projects,” Zervas said, “My website features a continual growing list of tracts from which to sample. They are divided into groups: Acoustic, and blues. These tracks are all copyrighted and registered with ASCAP. This music is available at low cost for nonexclusive use.”
Zervas has been writing music for over 40 years.
“I started out writing music and lyrics for my band 'Promise,'” he said, “We recorded four albums. Several years later I began composing guitar instrumentals, all self produced in my home stuidio. I have completed nine albums.”
He added, “One of these albums 'Heart at Rest' is solo fingerstyle guitar. All the others are full band arrangements. All of this music is, to me, perfect for sound track music, great in films, short films, videos and TV.”
Five of Zervas' my songs were used in nature music videos for Montclair State University. See: www.youtube.com/watch?v=vr7KSpy8Rvc&index=1&list=PLNP41jwIf5HFWvxhA3q92U6ZJeFMv4RPB
Zervas said, “My first album called 'All Along in a Song' was recorded in 1975. This and two other albums with lyrics followed. I went on to become an accomplished guitarist with styles that include rock, blues, jazz and classical. I have played many venues in the Sussex County Arts Community. My music in the last 10 years has been mostly guitar instrumentals written for film. On these compositions I am playing all guitars, bass, drums and synth. (This can’t be performed live without getting a band together.)”
Zervas said his influences have been: Santana, Jeff Beck, Beatles, Phil Keaggy, Steve Howe, Gary Moore, Allman Brothers, Jethro Tull and Yes.
“My instrumentals are a combination of rock, jazz, classical, blues with a cutting edge sound,” he said.
