“No Dope, So Dope!” at JAM Saturday Night, April 13

The Drug Enforcement Administration, New Jersey Division and the High Intensity Drug Trafficking Area, in conjunction with the Partnership for a Drug-Free New Jersey, The Governor’s Council on Alcoholism and Drug Abuse along with the Ammon Foundation invite anyone to participate in the 4th Annual Heroin and Opioid Art Exhibition highlighting heroin and opioid use disorder, addiction and recovery. For the past three years, artists have displayed works depicting heroin and opioid addiction and how substance use disorder and/or recovery have affected their lives and/or the lives of their loved ones. The deadline to submit artwork is April 15, 2019 and cash prizes will be awarded for 1st, 2nd, 3rd place and Honorable Mention with finalists being invited to attend a Heroin Addiction Art Exhibition in Newark, NJ.
Every year, members of the recovery community in Sussex County have participated in some way towards the success of this contest and exhibition. This year, recovery coaches from Center for Prevention and Counseling organized a series of evenings where people have been creating works of art, preparing to submit these to the 4th Annual Heroin and Opioid Art Exhibition. This Saturday night, April 13, will be the final night of “No Dope, So Dope!” where you will find artists and recovery community members on hand to encourage finishing touches on pieces being created. There is still time to submit artwork as the deadline is April 15, 2019. If you’d like to speak to an artist in person, encourage others as they prepare to complete their projects or simply be part of a recovery-friendly evening, please join others this Saturday night at 65 Newton-Sparta Road from 6-8pm where everyone is welcome.
The DEA art exhibition will be held from May 16- May 18, 2019 at Project Empty Spaces in Newark, New Jersey with another art reception to follow in Sussex County at the Recovery Community Center at 65 Newton-Sparta Road in September for Recovery Month.
