SCCC announces scholarships for veterans
Newton - Due to generous support from corporate donors such as Thorlabs, J.G. Petrucci Company, Inc., SB One Bank, and several private donors, Sussex County Community College (SCCC) is excited to expand its scholarship offering for Veterans for the Fall 2019 Semester.
“SCCC is grateful to these benefactors and looks forward to building the program,” stated Monica Lemperle, Director SCCC Foundation.
SCCC has a robust Veterans student base, many of whom take advantage of their VA Education Benefits while attending classes.
“We have recently learned that there is a growing number of Veterans attending our college who have served honorably, but are not entitled to receive education benefits from the Department of Veterans Affairs,” stated Veteran Services Coordinator, Jonathan Finocchiaro. “Additionally, we are seeing an increase in the number of students who are the children or spouses of Veterans. These new scholarships will allow these folks to receive some well-deserved assistance in paying for college.”
Veteran students and their family members can attend the full course offered at SCCC, including career education, online classes, and traditional academic programs. Scholarship amounts vary, and the online application will be open from January 28th – March 3rd at sussex.edu/scholarships to all current and new incoming students.
