NEWTON — Sussex County Community College (SCCC) is again hosting their Ladies’ Saturday Retreat, scheduled for Saturday, April 14. Registration begins at 11 a.m. Musician Tom Chapin, three time Grammy-winner and brother of Harry Chapin, will be the keynote speaker. The Ladies’ Saturday Retreat (formerly known as Women’s Weekend) is an opportunity for women ages 18 and older to gather for an inspirational day of workshops and activities as well as food, fun and laughter. Immediately following registration, singer-songwriter Tom Chapin will address the guests. Chapin’s musical career spans over fifty years, with three Grammys and twenty-two albums to his name, as well as credits from Broadway, television, and film. Following Chapin is a lunch café with local restaurant’s food tasting and exclusive vendors. Interesting workshops focused on the day’s theme of Activate, Rejuvenate and Motivate will take place throughout the afternoon. A gourmet dinner will be served at the end of the day and all participants will receive a free ticket to enjoy the NY Hysterical Society’s presentation of Ladies of Comedy, featuring comedians Ellen Orchid, Veronica Mosey, and headliner Jessica Kirson. The show begins at 7:30 p.m. in the Performing Arts Center. Tickets for the Ladies’ Retreat are $65 and include the café luncheon, gourmet dinner, the evening performance and all workshops. All proceeds from the retreat will support a scholarship for a female student at SCCC. For reservations and vendor information, call Rachel Durinick at 973-300-2121 or visit www.sussex.edu.
