SCCC/WCCC partner to offer certification programs
NEWTON — Massage therapy and similar health-related programs continue to be in high-demand within the healthcare industry. As part of this initiative, Sussex County Community College (SCCC), in partnership with Warren County Community College (WCCC) is offering Therapeutic Massage, Pilates Instructor Certification and Certified Personal Trainer programs. All of these programs will be offered during the Fall Semester which begins in September.
In an effort to strengthen economic and workforce development in the Northwest New Jersey region, SCCC and WCCC recently signed a partnership agreement that offers residents an opportunity to take advantage of a myriad of choices for certification programs and non-credit courses.
WCCC’s Continuing Education Department will be holding an Open House on Thursday, August 4 at 2 p.m. at its Phillipsburg Education Center located at 445 Marshall Street, Phillipsburg. There will be presentations on all three programs being offered. New High School graduates are welcome to attend the event. Please RSVP to (908) 835-2333 for this free event.
Pilates Instructor Certification- Classes for the Pilates Instructor Certification will be held at SCCC. Pilates is currently one of the most popular approaches to movement, balance, and toning. Pilates is also ranked as a top-10 fitness trend by the American College of Sports and Medicine.
Personal Trainer Certification- The certification classes will be held at SCCC. This course in conjunction with achieving national certification, prepares students to obtain an entry level personal trainer position within the fitness industry. The forecast for this occupation predicts an estimated increase of 29 percent by 2018 (Bureau of Labor Statistics)
Therapeutic Massage Certificate Program- Classes for the Therapeutic Massage Certificate Program will be held at WCCC. Research estimates that massage therapy was a $12.1 billion industry in the country in 2015.
