NEWTON — Florence M. Burd School has introduce a new School Safety Patrol program, coordinated by Mrs. Salvatore and Miss Schick.
School Safety Patrol membership is an honored position. Sponsored by AAA, millions of boys and girls have served since the program started in 1920. Service in the patrol is voluntary and open to all interested fourth-grade students. Members are selected for their courtesy, dependability, interest in their job, and attitude towards others, and scholastic standing.
The primary aims of the patrol are to help children become safe pedestrians and to foster qualities of leadership and good citizenship in patrol members.
The safety patrol was introduced to the rest of the FMB students at an assembly on March 2 that also encouraged good manners and reinforced school bus safety rules.
