Sixth grader takes Rev. Brown Geography Bee

SPARTA – Dylan Gerisch, a sixth grader at Rev. Brown School in Sparta won the school-level competition of the National Geography Bee on Jan. 29.
Fourth to seventh graders participate in the Geography Bee each year at Rev. Brown School.
The winner takes a test to enter into the State Geography Bee, followed by the National Geography Bee.
The winning question was, “The town of Bozeman, known for its ranchers, artists and trout fishing, is located north of Yellowstone National Park, in what state?” The answer: Montana.
Each year thousands of schools in the United States participate in the National Geography Bee using materials prepared by the National Geography Society. The contest is designed to encourage teachers to include geography in their classrooms, spark students interest in the subject, and increase public awareness about geography.
