    Jamie Roberts of Highland Lakes has received the Nicholas Martini Foundation Scholarship from the National Italian American Foundation. Roberts attends Villanova University and is majoring in business. Scholarship winners are selected based on academic merit and are academically outstanding, with an average GPA of 3.95. The average scholarship in the United States was more than $4,000. Andrew Michael Kasa of Hamburg was among nearly 1,250 Marshall University students who were recognized at the university's Winter Commencement Dec. 10 in Huntington, W.Va. Kasa earned a master of science degree. Lauren Watts of Hamburg has been named to the Dean's List at Ramapo College for the fall, 2011 semester. Lauren is a junior, majoring in psychology. The following local students have been named to the Fall 2011 dean’s list at Hofstra University: Cody Dericks of Sparta, Nicole Yorlano of Sparta and Amanda Losco of Sussex. Chad Conner, a 2009 graduate of Sparta High School was named to the fall term 2011 dean’s list at the University of Rhode Island. Chad a junior biology major at URI is the son of Kim and Larry Conner. Timothy Monbleau, son of Wayne Monbleau of Sparta was named to the dean’s list for the fall 2011 semester at Saint Michael’s College. Monbleau is a Senior English major at the liberal arts, residential Catholic college located in Burlington, Vermont, one of America’s top 10 college towns. Students who complete a minimum of 12 credits and achieve a grade point average of at least 3.4 at the end of a semester are recognized for their scholarship by inclusion on the dean’s list. Richard Lloyd (Chad) A. Estrada of Sparta, son of Ricky and Maryjo Estrada, has been named to the dean’s list for 2011 fall semester at Rutgers University. Sam Morrison, a Junior at Syracuse University majoring in Information Management and Technology, achieved the dean’s list in the fall semester of 2011. Emmanuel College in Boston recently announced recipients of dean’s list awards for the fall 2011 semester, which included Jenny A. Konecnik of Sparta and Jennifer Clark of Sparta. Students earning a grade point average of 3.5 or higher are awarded the distinction of dean’s list. Kristen Collins of Sparta, a member of the class of 2012, was named to Tufts University’s dean’s list for the fall 2011 semester. The dean’s list honors at Tufts University require a semester grade point average of 3.4 or greater. Nicholas Garafola of Sparta was one of 358 undergraduates named to Denison University’s 2011 fall semester dean’s list by Provost Bradley Bateman. Students who achieve dean’s list status have maintained a grade point average of 3.7 or better (out of 4.0) for the semester. Garafola is a member of the Denison class of 2013. Centenary College held its 137th January commencement on Jan. 14 at the John M. Reeves Student Recreation Center located on the College's campus in Hackettstown. The following local students were among the graduates: Nicole Goble from Franklin, who received a bachelor of science degree; Amy Gauli from Hamburg, who received a bachelor of science degree; Brie Nepil from Hamburg, who received a master of arts degree; Laura Baker from Ogdensburg, who received an associate in arts degree; Lia Ordile from Lafayette, who received a bachelor of science degree; Joshua Stall from Lafayette, who received a bachelor of science degree. Jake Bakera from Oak Ridge was named to the dean's list at the University of New Haven for the fall 2011 semester. He is a junior at the university. Full-time undergraduate students must have a 3.50 or better cumulative GPA for the semester to be eligible for the dean's list. John Theese of Wantage made the dean's list for the fall semester 2011 at the Georgia Institute of Technology. Undergraduate students earning a 3.0 or higher academic average for the semester gain the distinction of being named to the dean's list at Georgia Tech.
