Hopatcong - This week the Hopatcong Police Department gathered in the Hopatcong High School (HHS) gym with staff and students to accompany Officer Dave Schultz during his final sign-off. After 25 years of service, Officer Schultz is retiring. Known as "Officer Dave," he was most recently assigned to be the School Resource Officer (SRO) at Hopatcong High School. Students and staff lined the halls and clapped as he made his way from the cafeteria to the gym where the Police Department, his wife and daughter were all waiting for him. The band played while students and staff cheered for him. Officer Dave has not only made schools safer but he has also acted as a leader and educator for staff and students, according to the Hopatcong Superintendent's Office. Students also call him "O.D." and he has helped to build a positive relationship between students and the Hopatcong Police Department. Officer Rich Sadowski will take over the role as SRO at HHS. The Hopatcong School District would like to thank Officer Dave for everything he has done for district schools and wishes him the best in retirement and offers him congratulations on 25 years of hard work, commitment and dedication to the Hopatcong community.
