NETCONG — Wee Scholars Academy in Netcong celebrated its first anniversary with the first annual Valentine’s Day Grandparents Tea. Each of the preschoolers invited his or her grandparents to share a day with them at school. The festivities began with Miss Julia leading the children in two songs they had chosen for their grandparents. "Dinosaur Parade" and the classic fire safety song, “Stop, Drop and Roll,” were selected. Grandparents worked with the children at a number of Valentines Day-themed learning stations that included skills such as patterning, matching, one-to-one correspondence and numbers. All of the families enjoyed tea and Valentine’s treats together. Miss Debbie took photographs of each child with his or her grandparents. Everyone joined in making the craft of the day; a special Valentine’s Day frame for the photos. The keepsake was sent home for the children and their grandparents to remember their special day. “The children were so happy and proud to be able to share their school day, but some of the biggest smiles were on the faces of the grandparents," said Gina Thomas of Wee Scholars. "We so much love having all of our families participate in what we do, and this was a very special Valentine’s Day for all of us."
