Where every day is a great hair day

SPARTA — Mancuso Salon & Spa recently moved to a new bigger and better location on Woodport Road. A complete renovation took place in the building that formerly housed The Pizza Place. Salon co-owners Mary Mancuso and Jacque Cox had one main reason to relocate.
“We outgrew our space. In nine years, we went from nine employees to 35,” said Cox.
The old location in the Theatre Centre above Panera never closed during the transition. A designer touch was put on the new space by Monica Mc Guire. Chic colors and styling in a sophisticated 4,000-square-foot space set the tone for the full service salon and spa.
In a mutual mission statement described on their website called Behind the Scissors, Mancuso and Cox talk about their philosophy:
“Our goal has been, and continues to be, to create a space where people feel excited to come to where their needs are addressed and met and they feel amazing by the time they leave. Whether it is staff or clients, it doesn’t matter. We are all one. At the end of the day, when we look at how far we have come, and the beautiful people we get to share life with, it makes all the difference.”
A variety of beauty services are offered, including haircuts, styling, color, waxing, massage, nail and skin care. Mancuso’s specializes in hair color and offers five levels of stylists for color and cut.
“We work on a level system price range for every budget. We have someone and something for every budget,” said Mancuso.
Trending in the salon world right now is the balayage color technique and eyelash extensions.
“The balayage melt is a fusion of ombre,” said Cox. “And we now offer eyelash extension in addition to our make-up, special occasion and bridal services.
The new space gives Mancuso Salon & Spa the opportunity to intensify their training program for employees with a designed area that opens up and can host many people for educational seminars and the like.
“We are big on education. On a weekly basis, we keep up with the all the latest techniques,” said Cox.
Cox is an educator for the salon’s unique color line Tocco Magico.
Loyal customers ranging from age 1 to 100 said the salon partners are pleased with Mancuso’s new home. The salon staff has held steady throughout the transition.
“We would not have been possible without the staff,” said Mancuso.
Cox recalls a comment a client recently made to her: “She said I always see new faces, but no one leaves."
Cox and Mancuso appreciate their client and staff loyalty and are looking forward to a successful 2016.
“Our motto is 'Mancuso’s is where everyday is a great hair day,'” said Cox.
